In Truck

GennaroTransport Training knows the measure of a good truck driving school is behind-the-wheel training, and lots of hands-on exposure for students. Learn the skills needed to handle 18 wheels from instructors who have real life experience.

Basic Driving

In this course students will get hands on experience and test their skills driving a truck under the keen guidance of a Gennaro Instructor. You will drive a truck, with or without trailer, for two or four hour intervals where you will be evaluated on:

  • Basic habits
  • Air brake System
  • Pre trip Inspections
  • Clutch control
  • Shifting ability
  • Lane changes and positioning
  • Use of mirrors and signal
  • Turns
  • Backing
  • Parking
  • Coupling and uncoupling
  • Completion of log books.

 

Highway Practical Experience

Develop the confidence needed to perform the duties of a professional long haul driver while training on a variety of tractors and different trailer combinations. Under the guidance of a Gennaro Driver Trainer, the student gains highway experience to safely haul loads on Canada wide runs. Side trips to the United States are available to students who have a passport.

Here’s what you will learn:

  • How to handle a tractor-trailer unit at highway speeds
  • How to manoeuvre in the mountains while learning proper use of a splitter
  • Appropriate weight scale procedures
  • Logbook entry and load documentation

Prerequisites:

  • Class 1 students will require a medical
  • Completion of a Knowledge Test that can be taken at any registries office; required for both Class 1 and Class 3.
